Shrewsbury's quality school system enjoys a strong community relationship and a newly built high school and middle school.          In addition to traditional programming, Shrewsbury Middle Schools have a tremendously successful advanced math program and a Lego Robotics club. The Shrewsbury High School Colonials continue with the F.I.R.S.T. Robotics extra-curricular program. There are five public elementary schools: Beal, Coolidge, Floral Street, Paton, and Spring Street.

In addition to several early learning schools, Shrewsbury is home to St. Mary's School, St. John's High School, Shrewsbury Montessori School, and Al-Hamra Academy. Al-Hamra is the first full-time accredited Islamic school in New England.

Kids & Family in Shrewsbury

Expect the unusual at the Shrewsbury Public Library with day care bags and Discovery Kits for children in grades 2-4. SPLAT library programming for grades 5-12 includes books and blogging directly from young adults.

Shrewsbury Dining & Shopping

Large shopping malls and a plethora of restaurant choices are easily accessed in Worcester and Marlborough, but Shrewsbury is well recognized in its own right for its scene. Although offering an unusual combination, Willy's Steakhouse Grill & Sushi Bar is popular. Stop by Bauhinia for Chinese and Japanese cuisine, Udupi for South Indian fare, Amici Trattoria, or Shrewsbury Pizzeria. Try a delivered box lunch from Apple Spice Junction Deli.

Local and family owned shops add so much community flavor. Shrewsbury offers Ex Libris Used & Rare Books, The Shropshire Curiosity Shop, Gaston Art & Frame shop, Danielson Flowers, Windoor Shop for toys, Sachs Jewelers, and The Treasure Chest Company for a heady mix of clothing, flowers, and gourmet food.

Shrewsbury Community, Culture, Recreation

Shrewsbury's commitment to infrastructures shows in its new schools, newly built fire stations, and library committee to plan and oversee renovation of the current library and construction of a new library. Active Shrewsbury community organizations are many and varied from the Old Car Club to the Lions Club to the Shrewsbury Social Club. The Friends of Prospect Park maintain walking trails at the former Masonic property on Prospect Street.  The Artist Guild of Shrewsbury encourages artistic awareness. Shrewsbury's voting public is better informed by efforts of the Citizens for a Better Shrewsbury.

Shrewsbury comes out to play at the Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival with a parade, craft fair, and Family FunFest. Drop the boat at the Oak Island Boat Ramp, explore Greylock Park and Hills Farm and Pond, drop in to MSC Skate Park, watch the dancing fountains at Dean Park, row Lake Quinsigamond.
